Artisan Soaps
Our Local Sourcing Commitment: We proudly support local businesses by sourcing our ingredients from New Zealand suppliers. We are professional, insured members of the New Zealand Soap Makers' Association (NZSMA).
Our Artisan Process & Scents
Every single bar of soap we make is crafted completely by hand using traditional, small-batch methods. Because of this, no two bars look exactly alike—each one is a unique piece of functional art!
Scent Options: To suit all skin types and preferences, our bars are made using either Essential Oils, Fragrance Oils, or left completely Unscented.
Check the Label: The specific scent profile, oils, or botanical additions used in your chosen bar are always clearly listed on its individual soap label.
Skin-Loving Oils & Butters
Every bar begins with a carefully balanced blend of nourishing fats and oils to create a conditioning, rich lather:
Pomace Olive Oil: Packed with antioxidants; provides a deeply moisturising, long-lasting, and mild cleanse.
Rice Bran Oil: Rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants; leaves skin feeling exceptionally soft, smooth, and supple.
Coconut Oil: The powerhouse behind our soap's rich, bubbly lather; provides effective, deep cleansing.
Shea Butter: A luxurious moisturiser that adds a creamy texture to the soap, deeply nourishing dry or sensitive skin.
Castor Oil: A natural humectant that draws moisture to the skin and boosts a dense, stable, and fluffy lather.
The Liquid Bases & Saponification
To turn these premium oils into a solid bar of soap, a precise chemical reaction called saponification must take place:
Sodium Hydroxide & Distilled Water: The essential locking agents used to turn oils into soap. Zero sodium hydroxide remains in the final cured bar—it transforms completely into pure soap and natural glycerin.
Goat Milk (Specialty Bars): Used as a creamy water replacement; naturally rich in lactic acid to gently exfoliate and hydrate sensitive skin.
Coconut Milk (Specialty Bars): A vegan alternative to milk; adds a silky, ultra-creamy lather and an extra boost of skin hydration.
Natural Clays & Earth Minerals
We use nutrient-rich clays and earth minerals to naturally colour our soaps and provide unique, targeted benefits for your skin:
Gentle & Calming:
Pink Clay: Softens mature skin and hydrates fragile skin textures.
Calamine Powder: Soothes surface redness, inflammation, and skin itching.
Brazilian Purple Clay: Re-mineralises and balances skin using natural magnesium and zinc.
Kaolin Clay: Mildly clarifies while offering a very gentle, drying cleanse.
Deep Cleansing & Purifying:
Activated Charcoal: Draws out deep pore congestion, surface dirt, and excess oil.
French Green Clay: Tones the skin, tightens pores, and may reduce acne inflammation.
Red Clay: Provides advanced natural exfoliation to help clear away blemish-causing impurities.
Glacial Clay: Antioxidant-packed detoxifier that targets acne bacteria and smooths texture.
Detoxifying & Rejuvenating:
Ghassoul Clay: Mineral-dense clay that cleanses, nourishes, and rejuvenates tired skin.
Dead Sea Mud: Accelerates skin detoxification while soothing dryness and itchiness.
Cambrian Blue Clay: Extracts surface toxins and constructively helps clear blemishes.
Brazilian Yellow Clay: Boosts skin elasticity and circulation while targeting blackheads.
Performance Enhancers:
Bentonite Clay: Creates a slick, ultra-smooth lather that makes bars exceptional for shaving.
Titanium Dioxide: A safe, natural mineral used strictly for its crisp whitening properties.
Cosmetic Mica Powder
To create the beautiful swirls, vibrant layers, and gentle shimmer in our artisan soaps, we use premium cosmetic-grade mica powder:
Mineral-Based Colour: Purified natural mineral coated with skin-safe pigments for beautiful, bleed-free hues.
Safe & Gentle: Non-toxic, non-irritating, and sits gently on the skin during washing before rinsing cleanly away.
Zero Staining: Carefully balanced to wash cleanly down the drain without leaving marks on skin, towels, or tubs.
Microplastic-Free: Mica is mineral-based and completely eco-safe.
How to Extend the Life of Your Soap
Keep it High and Dry
Because our premium artisan soaps are handmade, they need a little extra care compared to commercial bars.
To get the most out of your purchase, always store your bar on a well-draining soap dish away from direct streams of water. Allowing the soap to dry completely between uses will keep it firm, rich, and double its lifespan!
